What is Google E-E-A-T & YMYL – How to optimize it?

Would knowing these two and embracing them for your site do much better?

Believe it or not, it is a fact if you do it right.

E-E-A-T = Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness.

YMYL = Your Money or Your Life.

Let’s start with the definition.

Experience

Does the author have enough experience to talk about the subject matter?

Of course, we wouldn’t prefer hearing marketing tips from developers.

So what the author says through the content is real, proven, accurate, and from their experience.

Expertise

Do the authors have the expertise to discuss what they share online?

We can’t hire an expert to talk about specific stuff. I know it is expensive.

But the author can talk about something after meticulous research or the thing that worked for someone with proof. You have no other choice other than this.

How to win at this?
  • Clearly outline the qualifications and credentials of your authors. This means having a separate page for them.
  • Make your team share their expertise through author bios. This showcases their experience and background.
  • Regularly update and review content to ensure it is staying up to date.

Authoritativeness

Authoritativeness establishes your website as a reliable source of information.

Semrush is also a well-known site for talking about SEO.

For example, you search for the keyword “best SEO strategies” on Google.

The SERP (Search engine ranking page) includes many pages including Semrush. And imagine you know Semrush as a site that talks about SEO.

So, would you click Semrush or some other unknown site?

Yes, that is what ‘Authoritativeness’ does here.

How to win at this?
  • Get backlinks from reputable websites within your industry.
  • Showcase industry partnerships, certifications, and recognitions.
  • Post comprehensive, well-researched content that adds value to your audience.
  • Ask the industry expert to write a blog for your site; this improves your credibility.
  • Implement a pillar page and topic cluster on your content strategy

Trustworthiness

Trustworthiness is the foundation of any successful website.

Building trust involves establishing a transparent and reliable online presence:

How to win at this?
  • Clearly state your website’s mission and values.
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date information, citing reputable sources.
  • Invest in a secure website infrastructure, including SSL certificates for data encryption.
  • Encourage user reviews and testimonials to showcase positive experiences with your content or products.

What is YMYL?

YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) topics could come around health, safety, finance, or well-being.

So the above factors, such as Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness, are so important when you write YMYL-related content.

Since the misinformation could do a lot worse for the reader’s money or life, we as a contributor should be aware of the potential threats behind it and should act consciously.

Speaking of E-E-A-T and YMYL, don’t overlook the importance of internal linking. It would be helpful in the process of achieving E-E-A-T for your site.

That’s it.

Now you know better about these two concepts. More than knowing these, you need to apply the mentioned checklist to be good at both.

Let’s see you on another one.
